Whew, what a week. So, y'all know the car exploded and that whole deal from last week. Well, we had more fun on Sunday when we went to buy a Jeep and the sales folks at the local dealership pissed us off so much we went home without a car. Instead we went to Honda on Monday and bought an Element there instead. It was the second runner up choice and now that we have it and have been driving around the last few days, we both agree it is probably better than the Jeeps we were looking at anyway. Funny how things have a way of working themselves out like that, isn't it?
As we have been driving around in our lovely new car, Mr Danger and I have been joking about our car history. So I thought I would share it with you.
This was my first car, right down to the color. I had this when I met Mr Danger many years ago (all he had at the time was a bicycle). We called it the Flying Shoebox of Doom since one day Mr Danger told me it had the aerodynamics of a shoebox. Boxy, eh?
This was our next car that we bought brand new for our last business. This is it exactly, same height and length and color. A dodge sprinter, which we used as a daily driver as well. Though utilitarian, we loved this car for many reasons. But look at it, it is like the Flying Shoebox on steroids, even bigger and boxier.
This was our last car, you know, the one that exploded. Again this is it, right down to color. It was a 1997 850 Turbo Wagon. We went back to smaller boxy again, but we had had such good luck with our first volvo, we thought we would just buy the updated version. We have a local volvo guy in town too that specializes in used parts which had made repairs on our first one uber cheap. Not so much this one. Boxy, but newer boxy.
And this is our new car, a 2011 Honda Element. Seeing the boxy trend? This thing is great, it feels like the mini passenger version of the Sprinter. Weird, I wonder why we are drawn to this particular shape of vehicle. Whatever the reason, it is pretty funny. As long as car manufacturers keep making boxy vehicles, we should be ok. Although maybe we make up for it in the fact that our other car is the very roundy VW bug.....
So, the car buying and the selling of the volvo has eaten up way more of this week than I would have liked it to, so I am frantically playing catch up. Catch up on things like the laundry has gotten done, but not put away, so everywhere I go I feel like a pile of clean laundry is going to fall on me. But, better to be crushed by clean laundry than dirty laundry, right?!

Congratulations on joining the growing family of happy Honda owners!
We started with a 1977 Honda CVCC we bought new for $3,333. We've had 2 Civics, 3 accords and now drive a CRV.
If yours treats you as well as ours have, you'll be a pleased for many years to come.

I am noticing that your boxy vehicles echo your Monster shapes as well :)

Congratulations on your new Honda. I own a Toyota 4 runner and my husband a Toyota Tundra and we are extremely pleased with them. I think you also made a very wise choice. Friends of ours are still driving their Honda Oddysey with over 300000 kms.
Enjoy!!

Wow, very cool! You're a loyal Honda customer, so you should get a freebie from them, hehe. Well you got a good choice, since Hondas known for their reliability, especially the Vtech engines. I should know, I've been driving a Civic for some time now.
