In The Studio

I have been working like a mad-person all week in my studio. I may have done something completely dumb and signed up for a big craft show on Monday. I have been working on a new project and thinking about getting back out and doing shows again (I used to do them all the time with my last business), but the thing with this one is it is less than a month away! Since my new project is not a fully thought out and actualized project, I've got a lot to do in not much time.

Luckily this little lady in the above picture has been keeping me company in my studio all week. She rarely gets stressed about anything, so hopefully some of that will rub off on me.

It was raining this afternoon, but we played outside anyway.

 

This Week's Project

Doing some sewing this week. And yes, I bought the A Beautiful Mess app today, like every one else.

Phew!

Oh my goodness. That's all I have got to say.

BUT, we are one step closer to moving (and I am one step further away from winding up in a home). After an on-the-fly trip with a cranky kiddo down to Seattle on Thursday to meet Mr Danger and go look at a cool barn that had been converted into a 3,400 sq ft house, we checked out one other house that we happened to get a call for right as I got to the area. It was perfectly perfect inside and outside, 3 bedrooms (Peanut, office/studio, us), Mid Century Modern feeling, big deck, big fenced yard, hot tub (!!!), and best of all, 4 minutes to work for Mr Danger in a great neighborhood. So, the whole family (pugs and all) loaded up into 2 cars yesterday (since Mr Danger was staying in Seattle for work early this morning) to drive down and meet the landlords. 

Papers are all signed and we have a tentative move date about 2 weeks from now. Yeah!

The best part is that now that we have secured a place to live, I can get back to blogging since my normal blogging time once Peanut is in bed at night has been devoted to staring at Craigslist and Zillow rentals to find houses to look at. *Huge relieved sigh*

I will be back tomorrow with Peanut's 15 and 16 month photos! (Since I am a month behind posting...)

 

Just Keep Knitting...........

Wowza. What a wacky, wild, and weird time in my life right now. All I can say is the theme song around this house right now is "Just Keep Swimming" from Finding Nemo with the lyrics replaced to "Just Keep Knitting."

That's all I have got tonight. Now I am going to go eat some chocolate.

 

BFB KAL Day 1: Getting Started

Hey guys! First of all, for those of you not in the "know," BFB is Blue-Footed Booby. Got it?

Ready for a booby knit along? Good. I started to write this post, and maybe it is because I am tired, but I am feeling like I want to check in and find out what you guys want help with before I start explaining.

But, I do want to at least get you started today, so....If you are knitting Bob in pieces and stitching him together at the end, refer to my Basil, and Terence KAL's. And be sure to check out my FAQ's page too. I think everything is covered in there, but if it is not, leave me a comment here with your questions and I will cover them as I go!

If you are knitting him in one piece, you will probably want to check out those KAL's and the FAQ's too, since most of your questions should be answered there. Would you guys leave a comment below here as well letting me know what parts you want covered? Just be sure when you leave a comment to let me know if you are knitting in one piece, or separately and sewing together at the end.

Ok, that's what I have got for today. I know, sort of sorry start, right?

How about a little update though? I know I have pretty much dissappeared  and have been hard to get a hold of the last couple months. So here's the skinny.....Mr Danger lost his job back in June, which means he has been home a lot. He went from working like 60-70 hours a week, to home 24/7. Big switch! He has been helping out by answering my emails and watching the Peanut so I can work on this book (#3!) I am writing and booby releasing and what-have-you. But, when he is here all the time I find it hard to get a minute away from both baby and hubby to get a blog post in. Hence the silence on the blog-front.

But, it is all for the good! He got offered an awesome job a couple weeks ago, which he started today. This awesome job means we have to move to the Seattle area, though.......and since we had 2 weeks notice, and did I mention I am working on a book, there was no way the whole family was moving by today. So. Mr Danger is down in Seattle now and Peanut and I are staying in Bellingham and moving down around October 1st (depening on when we find a place to live). 

So all I have got to say is Phew! It has been kinda a wild ride around here. And since my book is due November 5th to turn in to the publisher and Mr Danger is only home on weekends until we move, it is probably only going to get more wild. Which is why I am tired tonight and having a hard time thinking of the best thing to instruct you on for the KAL.

But, we are moving to the Seattle area! Anyone know any good knit groups down there? (For those of you wondering it is about an hour and a half to two hour drive from where we live now)

Ok, that's all I've got. Now I am going to go get as much book knitting in as I can while Peanut is sleeping, since I don't get too much done while he is awake!

Ack!

Just a note to say "Hi!" and I made it home safely. Between SSK and my allergies being in full force I have been worthless, taking long naps every day which has led to me not getting much done. Not much at all.

So I am here, I am trying to get back on track, and my plan is to get Peanut's 14 month photos sorted through and edited this afternoon so I can share them with you tomorrow.

Last Minute Preparations!

Holy cupcakes guys, I am off to SSK in just about 24 hours! I just wanted to get a quick post in here to say thank you SOOO much for the awesome Sherman release! It has been amazing, so glad you like him.

And, make sure to get entered into my Coastal Knits giveaway, I will be drawing a winner tomorrow before I head out! 

Alright, I am off to figure out how the [expletive deleted] I am going to fit everything in my suitcases. I was so positive and sure of my space last week, and now that I am looking at the "to-pack" pile and adding more and more things every 20 minutes, I am feeling not so positive and hopeful.....tomorrow will be the true test. And a true test of travel space bags, since I will be making heavy use of them. Heavy, heavy use.

Holy cupcakes, it is June already. Can you believe it?

I have managed to make it to the grocery store 4 times in the last 24 hours. Normal grocery shopping yesterday, walked over for a nice relaxing morning to grab a cup of coffee this morning, realized I needed something at noon, and then ran out of a couple other things this evening (these all being toilet paper type items. You know, things you can't really be without). Awesome, right? Doesn't leave much knitting time!

I am looking forward to the weekend! We are headed to roller derby tomorrow and are going to try to do as little as possible the rest of the weekend. I have managed to get pretty smoothed out with SSK class planning work, just knitting up a couple samples now, so Terence KAL will begin Monday!

Busy, Busy!

Eeesh, no Terence KAL start today. I have been running around all day today, trying to get caught up, and again it is almost 9pm and I haven't gotten a chance to even look at Terence KAL stuff yet.

June seems to have become a nutty month for me, I have the Knitgirllls SSK coming up in just a couple weeks now so I am busy, busy getting ready for that, plus several other big things seem to be going on as well. Recently I have been trying to figure out how to get my 10'x10' booth display of yarn and patterns there. Shipping it? Extra suitcases? I keep going back and forth and much of the yarn I am taking has been ordered but isn't here yet, so I am not able to try different options for space. Which is driving me nuts since I don't actually know how much space I need! I did just look up how much shipping would cost though (based on best guesses) and I was horrified. So, I think suitcases it is. But I am still not 100% decided. It is starting to drive me batty though since I feel like it is all I think about anymore.

Alrighty, I am off to work on some class stuff for SSK! I will get to the KAL as soon as I can. Hopefully I will get more done tomorrow......
