So in the middle of all the crazies that go on around here these days, I have actually managed to get a couple minutes of knitting time in just for me. I have been working on Jane Richmond's Rae:

It is the perfect quick, simple, easy to pick up and put down, very wearable project. And the perfect project for that yarn I bought a couple months ago that I thought I would only get to fondle for a long while.
I started out knitting from one skein but the color changes are so spread out it looked bad. So, genius that I am thought to myself, "well, if I have 2 skeins, I can wind them so they are going in opposite directions of color changes and get 2 gradual changes going on at the same time." I say genius that I am since normally this is the kind of thing I think of after the fact. So go me for thinking of this right away. For once. Here's how I wound the yarn:
Which is creating a pretty neato stripey changey dealy. Which is the official terminology for it, if you didn't know.
I am looking forward to finishing it (guesstimated time of completion: fall 2013) since it looks super wearable and I am really into grays right now. I am also enjoying knitting it right now to keep me from going completely bonkers with all the book knitting.
If you are digging Rae like me, there is a KAL going on on Ravelry for it right now, too!

The word you're looking for is gradient!
Looks cute!

That is smart! This is just one more reason that I should get myself a ball-winder!

It looks really nice, and I love the color, but I have what may be a stupid question... how is this different from a baktus scarf? I mean, I love it, just... seems like a for-sale pattern that's really similar to a free one!

Rebecca it looks awesome! I love the neato stripey changey dealy that's going on there, brilliant! ...I never would have thought to do that! I'm glad it's relaxing knitting for you :)
