Wohoo! The Patterns Are Up!

Hey all! Just  a quick note to let you know that Iris the monster and Ursula and Uma the monsters are now up on my website, my etsy shop, and my Ravelry shop.

Thanks to all the website purchasers for making an awesome pattern release day for me! I am hearing several folks are not getting their email with the download links in it from there though, so if you havent received yours yet send me an email.

Also, the patterns are on sale on ravelry, but it looks like for what ever reason you need to buy each one individually to get the sale price, it seems to only want to give one discount if you buy them together.

Thanks again every one, I can't wait to see all the monster projects start to pop up on Ravelry!

How About Some New Patterns?

Ok, so they're not necessarily new, BUT I have gotten permission from the 2 yarn companies I wrote patterns for last year to sell them in my regular pdf line up. So, Ursula and Uma and Iris will be available as pattern only this week! Exciting, huh?

I am going to do it a little different than normal pattern release day this time: First of all I will be offering them on my website tomorrow, and then on ravelry and etsy on my normal pattern release thursday. The website is very exciting since you will get instant access to the pattern, unlike on etsy where you have to wait around for me to email it to you. 

ALSO, I will be selling both patterns at a $4 sale price for the first 30 days everywhere (website, etsy, Ravelry) and then they will go back to the normal $6 price. Oh, but because of the already discounted price they wont be a part of the "Get 33% off when buying 5+ patterns" on Ravelry deal until they are at normal price next month.

Just a few little fun things I thought I would try out this time! So, check out the website tomorrow morning, OR hit the normal etsy/Ravelry channels on Thursday. I like to switch it up and keep y'all on your toes!

I'm Pinning!

I'm on Pinterest now. I'm not quite sure what that means, but I have pinned like 2 things. Woo! Seems kinda cool, but unfortunately with all the baby and book-writing haps 'round here, I don't have a whole lot of time for noodling on the internets. But it does seem like the perfect way to mark those awesome things I see that I would like to come back to later.

Super Bear!

We have a new favorite round here:

This is Super Bear! He is one of those blankie friend things, which I am not normally a fan of, but a superhero one? I found him at TJ Maxx awhile back and quickly snapped him up. Much to my delight he has become The Kid's favorite toy. He's really cool, he is made of about 6 or 7 different fabrics so he feels good in little hands (or on The Kid's face apparently since he grabs the bear and shoves his face in it).  He's got a rattle in his head too, and whenever I rattle him The Kid snaps his head around to see where Super Bear is. It is so much fun as The Kid gets more aware of his surroundings to be able to play with him with these kinds of things.

Plus he makes a good snuggle buddy (that would be both the bear AND the baby).

This Week I am Loving........

....Cascade's Heritage Sock yarn. Have you guys seen this? I just finished a project for my next book in it and I have really enjoyed working with it.

I am a huge sock yarn fan in general and there are so, so many gorgeous hand dyes out there, but I often find it hard to find a good solid colored sock yarn. I think the Heritage is awesome, it comes in a ton of great solid colors, is a great price, is nice and soft and almost fluffy to work with, and makes a good looking knit fabric. And if you do like the multi colors for sock yarn, they have it in a variety of multi colors as well. I have actually used it for more than just monster/toy projects, and am in the middle of a sweater with it too. I am using it to make this (and have been for some time now...):

It is coming out very lovely (and at the rate I have been working on it, I should be done with it about the time The Kid turns 5.)

Alright, back to the crazy-book-knitting-marathon. I have put myself on house-arrest this week so that I can get in as much work as possible. It is actually going fairly well, much to my surprise!

In other news this blog post is being typed out on my brand-spanking-new-impulse-purchased laptop. Well, it wasn't really an impulse purchase, but it felt like it. We had decided we needed a laptop (since I am just not making it up to my office and my desktop computer like I should be with The Kid and the iPad is limited in some areas), decided we wanted a used MacBook, decided on price and what it needed, and when we called our local Mac dealer and they had exactly what we were looking for, we ran over and picked it up immediately. Normally I drag my feet on large purchases like this for months or sometimes even years (seriously, it drives Mr Danger absolutely NUTS). But, I had come to realize how much I needed a new laptop (our 7 year old one, Lappy Sr., is completely dead and wont even stay on anymore) and jumped on this (and I love it, it is perfect). So expect blogging to be back to normal this week since I am currently sitting on my couch, entertaining The Kid who is cranking in his bouncer in front of me, with the laptop balanced on my lap all while watching original Star Trek. Talk about multi-tasking, you can't do that with a desktop!

(but crap, I just realized my blog signature is not saved on the lappy here yet......)

Chirps!

I always love it when I get emails with photos from you guys, but sometimes they are just so cute I feel I need to share them. Here is one such photo:

It's the ChirpsMobile! Danielle made this for her, as she put it, "soon-to-be-born-any-day-now" baby boy. She started making chirps and just couldn't stop, so she cut out some foam core board clouds and made an awesome, colorful mobile above her changing table. How cute it this?!

The Kid has monster decals next to his changing table and he absolutely loves them. Whenever he is getting changed he stares at them and coo's and smiles. I know Danielle's new kiddo will love her Chirpsmobile, too! What a great use of chirps, huh?

This Week I am Loving.........With a Give-away!

....the band Pearl and the Beard!

I was recently introduced to them and since I listen to a lot of music while I am working, I immediately sat down and listened to their album Killing the Darlings straight through several times. I just love it. It is a great eclectic mix of music, with tracks to appeal to a broad range of listeners.

Every song is beautifully crafted in its own unique style. Each track on the album is a gem: The opening track, Reverend, (which you can check out here) is one of my favorites with a strong walking rhythm and haunting vocal harmonies. Hot Volcano, one of my other favorites, starts out like a moaning ghost, then goes into a retro 50's nightclub feel that induces the smell of cheap booze and cigars. Douglas Douglass is a spunky tune that will get you up and dancing. Plus, check out that awesome three-person sweater (which the liner notes have the schematic for so you can make your own)! You can find out all about the sweater in this cute video which you should really check out.

And best of all? I have a copy of Killing the Darlings to give away to one of you guys so you can have some new music to knit to, too! This Week I Am Loving......

....yum! This yarn:

I don't even know what it is, Unisono from Zitron? Anybody ever used it? But that color, wow.

I hopped out to Beach Basket the yarn shop in Birch Bay to say "hi" to the owner and introduce her to The Kid over the weekend. I didn't even intend to look at yarn, let alone buy any. But, this yarn caught my eye from across the room and I decided I couldn't leave without it. I am only writing a second book while figuring this whole mom thing out with this new kiddo and still trying to put patterns out in my existing business, but I needed this yarn for a project for me. Not to mention this other bins of ready-to-go unstarted projects for me sitting around my house. I have no idea what project it will work for or when I will ever get it done, but at least I have the yarn, right? (Mr Danger suggested I just leave it on my desk and fondle it while I am working on other things....)

Anybody else do this kind of thing? Please say it is not just me.

He's still so teeny-tiny he is just beginning to fit in most of his 0-3 month clothing!
