This little guy has been home for nearly 3 weeks now and the pugs still don't know what to think of him. Every time he cries, Lucy the pug looks at me with a face that can only say, "Mom! Do something! Ack! Make it stop!" It is really quite funny. They think he is absolutely fascinating (although sometimes when Abbey looks at him I think she is mistaking him for something to eat.)
We had P in his bouncer (which has been his favorite thing the last 2 days for reasons I can't figure out) and Lucy came over to inspect him. First she put her head on the chair, which I think felt good since it vibrates:
Sorry bout the not-so-hot pictures!
And then she spent about 25 minutes trying to figure her way around the pug blockers I had put up.
We are trying to pretend we are back to "normal" around here. Last night we got P to sleep in two 5 hour chunks, which is one of the best nights we've had so far. Although, his crib has become a laundry containment system since he refuses to sleep in it.
Mr Danger went back to work today for a half-day shift, which leaves me by myself with P for the first time right now. I am not so sure how I feel about that, but I guess he has to go back at some point! And, it has definitely calmed down a bit and doesn't seem as overwhelming as it did a week ago. Every day I feel a little bit better, but having the c-section has really seemed to knock me out for longer than I was expecting. The worst part is between the lack of sleep, hormones, new baby, and the pain meds I was taking, my pregnant brain has turned into a vacant puddle of goo and I have no brain at all left. I've still got my fingers crossed that it will come back some day. I have started carrying around a note pad to write things down on because otherwise I can't remember a thing.
I am back to work knitting this week so I am off to get a few stitches in while P is still asleep!

I know how Lucy and Ashley feel. I have company this week, too. Tell'em they can come hang with me anytime! I've got wheels!! :P

The pugs reaction is adorable! Don't worry, you'll read this entry back to yourself in a few years and say "that would be nothing now"...it just comes with the Mommy territory! All the best, love reading your blog. Purchased Knitted Monsters a few weeks ago, and think my 9 yr old son wants all of them!!

Hang in there - each week gets better and one of these days you'll wake up and be amazed at what you were able to accomplish on so little sleep!

It will get better, but the whole empty brain thing returns around age 12. Then it becomes the old age thing and you are still carrying around a pad of paper - except you forgot where you put the pad of paper, giggle. Enjoy every day with Mr. P, because they grow up way too fast. Hugs.

Hiya. I was the same after I had my two (both sections too!). You feel like you'll never feel normal (or not tired) again, but it does get better...just keeping telling yourself that. You'll also want to get back into making stuff at some point. Speaking of my two, am away to knit them a bunny nugget each. I love that pattern, you're so clever!

My dogs are the same way with my 7 week old. They have a really hard time when he cries and they start whining and follow wherever he goes!

It gets easy! I had two c-sections. With my first born, I didn't know how out of it I was until I wasn't! It was a full six weeks before I felt like myself again.
For my second born, I remember having the best dream about...sleeping! My mom was here to help with the boys (2 1/2 years apart) and my husband was back to work. I got to take a rare nap and woke up feeling so refreshed.
Congrats and hang in there! What a sweetie you have.
