Hey, Hey, It's A Monkey!

You ready for my newest knitting pattern?

Meet Jerry the Musical Monkey! You asked for a monkey, and it took me a while to get one just "right" that I was happy with, but here he is! I hope you love him.

I think this one is my favorite, I love those colors together. And he is pretty small, or relatively since Jerry seems like he might be one of my bigger patterns. Although, I don't know why that would be, maybe just his long arms and legs.

You know what else is really cool about him? He is my 20th self-published knitting pattern. Pretty awesome, that feels like a big milestone to me. He is available in my etsy shop now and I am off to get him up on Ravelry as soon as I am done typing here.

One Happy Camper

Just a quick post to say I am in a great mood today. As I was mapping out my to-do's last night, I realized that my first and foremost order of business today is to knit. That's right. Before cleaning, cooking, or anything else that might seem like it should be more of a priority, the most "must-do" item today is to knit.

I love these kinds of days, in fact these were the kinds of days I wanted every day when I started writing patterns. But somehow it has been about 4 months since my last "must knit" day. So, needless to say I am very content.

Thanks for listening, I needed to share my bit of happiness with someone.

 

New Pattern This Week?

I have managed to start feeling more caught up finally. I finished several big projects over the weekend and when I sat down and worked on my to-do's list last night, I felt like a few more feverish work days and I will be able to take it a little bit more easy. Yeah. I have been waiting for this day. I actually got the feeling I could be more or less caught up and ready for when this baby decides to get here.

But, in planning my next few feverish work days I came to realize I am 90% finished with my next pdf knitting pattern. Remember how I was aiming for one a month this year? Well, if I put one out this Thursday, I can still hit March (it's the 31st on Thursday). How's that sound, a knitting pattern release this week? I'll keep you posted.

 

Book Signing at Main Street Yarns

Hey all! I will be down in Mill Creek signing books and showing off samples and patterns tomorrow, Saturday March 26th, at Main Street Yarns. I seem to be working my way further and further down south, don't I? I'll be there from 12-3, sharpie in hand, so if you are in the Seattle area, be sure to come by!

PS: I thought you all would find it entertaining that I rounded out my couple weeks obsession with prison shows last night by watching Elvis in Jailhouse Rock with Mr Danger last night.

More Learn To Knit

Yeah! This week's post is up on Makeit-Loveit.com for my Learn to Knit mini series! This week I cover binding off and weaving in the ends. Go check it out! The weaving in the ends part might be good for some of you experienced knitters as well, I know it is a question I hear a lot, "Is there a right way to weave in the ends?" 

I am off to get my hair cut. I love hair cut day. I tried to push it as close to my due date as I could since I know that it will be awhile before I get back in once Baby Danger gets here.......

This Week I Am Loving

So I am sure you are sick of me talking about baby stuff all the time, but hey, what can I say? It just sort of is where my focus seems to be these days.

This week I am totally in love with the Baby Gap. Holy crud have these folks got my number. I adore this:

Scooter jammies! Bah! I am keeping my eye on them waiting for them to go on sale.

I actually am pretty infatuated with the whole "Formentera" line.

I keep kicking myself for loving the more expensive baby clothes, but then I realize that there really is no where near the cute boy's stuff out there that there is for girls, and if I am really crazy about only one store's worth of baby clothes I am doing pretty good. I am just not into this cutesy stuff, especially with the jungle animals and sappy writing on it. It's great that people are, I am just not that kind of person. So, I have been rather picky as far as clothes have gone and I am feeling like it is ok to splurge on a few things. And, when you catch their stuff on sale it is an awesome deal (I picked up 2 pairs of pj's like the one above but different prints on clearance for $11.99 plus an additional 30% off making them actually affordable).

So there you go. Pretty much this week I have either been working, or clicking around the gap website on my ipad and showing Mr Danger everything I click on. Lucky guy.

What I Think About At Night

So this baby is keeping me from sleeping how I would like to even now, before he is here. I just don't seem to be able to sleep through the night anymore, partly since I have to get up for the bathroom and partly for mysterious reasons I don't know.

Last night I had anxiety dreams about him getting here and me being completely unprepared. Lovely brain, it is not like I am not thinking about that during the day, but then to have it play out in dream scenarios at night, charming. 

Combine that with waking up at 5:30 for a trip to the bathroom at which point when I got back into bed, all I could think about was how much work I needed to get done immediately and therefore couldn't fall back asleep, it was an interesting night.

The good thing is I did manage to fall back asleep for another hour or so, and somehow all that anxiety through the night has woken me very motivated this morning. I have picked the things I MUST do pre-baby and am focusing on those this week. Thankfully that takes the pressure off for several projects, which will hopefully translate to a better night of sleep tonight.

So I'm off to do a bunch of computery work today (broken up by some fun sewing projects, which maybe is accounting for the more-motivated feeling). My goal is to get these must-so things done by next Monday and I am feeling like that is an achievable task. It is always nice when you are able to set achievable goals for yourself and not just pipe dreams.....

Not Much To Report Round Here

Hey all! Hope you had a good weekend. Round here we got bookshelves purchased and assembled for Baby Danger's room and signed up for a Costco membership (we'd let ours lapse for several years). This meant going to Target and Costco not only both in one day, but both on a Sunday. Needless to say this left me rather spent and I ended my day in a vegetative state on my couch all evening. Actually, I am wondering if that is why I am feeling cruddy today, since I think I am still not recovered.....

Really not too much more exciting than that going on around here. The kitchen remodel is still in full swing, we are getting granite today. I have been working my bum off but not feeling like I am getting much accomplished. (Doesn't help that I have pulled out the pattern I am working on right now at least 4 times, but honestly I've lost count at this point)

Thanks for all the response to my idea for a weekly love it post. We're definitely a go on that, I think I will start aiming for Wednesdays.

Off to knit, or something like that. Better get some more tea first though since the first cup didn't seem to perk me up much at all.

This Week I Am Loving....

...So I am thinking about doing a weekly post of something that I am totally in love with. I tend to have a rather obsessive personality (like you couldn't tell with all the danged monsters) which means I am always finding new things that get me really excited and I think about a ton. What do you all think, a weekly post on a book, or movie, or item, or shopping place, or knitting pattern, or yarn, or guilty pleasure, or what-have-you that I am currently loving? Likey-leaky? Or meh, not-so-much? Leave me a comment so I know whether I should go ahead or not.

Either way I am going to tell you what I am loving this week: Prison Shows. That's right. As Mr Danger was gone earlier this week I found myself hitting the Netflix insta-watch queue for something a little different. I found a documentary on the Aryan Brotherhood (which is a prison gang, if you didn't know) and after enjoying that (I do love a good documentary), Netflix recommended a National Geographic channel show called "Lockdown" which is all about life in prison. For whatever reason, I'm hooked.

I know, the crazy monster knitter likes prison shows, eh?

I think it is just so far removed from my own life that I find myself just glued to it. I have always loved psychology too, and the society-within-a-society aspect is fascinating to me. What can I say? I need something to entertain me with my many hours spent on knitting.

So, there you go. Today I am away from the prison shows though and doing a baby fabric shopping trip this afternoon as a reward for getting so much work done this week.
